Dust & Deuces: Privacy Policy
Effective: 5 October 2026 Contact: [email protected]
The short version
- Dust & Deuces does not ask who you are. There is no account, no sign-in, and we never collect your name, email, phone number, location, contacts, photos or your device's advertising ID.
- The game makes a random number when you first open it, and uses it to tell our server how the game is going for you: what you sold, what you built, how long you played.
- We use that to see how many people play, to fix bugs and balance the game, and to send you game money if something went wrong.
- We never sell your information or share it for advertising.
- You can wipe everything we hold about you with Forget me in the game's settings.
Who we are
Dust & Deuces is made by an independent developer ("we"). For anything about your information, write to [email protected].
What we collect
An anonymous install ID
The first time you open Dust & Deuces, the game makes a random 26-character code on your device: your install ID. It is not made from anything about you or your device. It is stored in the game's save, and it lets the server keep one game's records together. If you delete the game, the ID goes with it, and a new install gets a new one that we cannot connect to the old one.
From the install ID the game works out a short claim number (like QIPQ-ILNT) that it shows in settings. If you write to us for help, quote your claim number so we can find your game.
What the game reports
The game sends these, and our server throws away anything else:
| What | Exactly |
|---|---|
| When you open the game | the game's version, the kind of device (iPhone/iPad, Android, web browser), the operating system's name and major version (like "iOS 18"), the language the game is shown in, and the save's format version |
| Each play session | when it started and ended, and how long you played |
| Sales | how much game money each sale made, and what was sold (ore, gold dust, a bar...) |
| Purchases | which in-game item you bought and its price in game money |
| Ad rewards | that a rewarded ad paid out, and how much game money it gave |
| Milestones | firsts, like your first gold bar |
| Your progress | at the end of a session: game money on hand, game money earned in total, which machines and upgrades you own, and how many rocks you have broken |
All amounts are game money, not real money. Dust & Deuces reports no real-money payments.
Your IP address
Like any server on the internet, ours sees the IP address each request comes from. We use it only to stop anyone sending too many requests (no more than 120 an hour from one address). It is held in the server's memory for at most an hour and is never written down: not in our database, not in our logs.
What stays on your phone
Your save, and a short queue of reports waiting to be sent (at most 2000; the oldest are dropped first). If the server is off or you are offline, the game plays exactly the same.
Why we collect it
- To see how many people play each day, and how far they get.
- To find bugs and balance the game (if everyone stalls at the same machine, that is our problem to fix).
- To help you: if something went wrong, we can look up your claim number, see what happened, and send you game money in a letter that arrives in your in-game mailbox. Every letter is logged.
- To keep the server working when someone tries to flood it.
We do not use it to build an advertising profile, and we do not combine it with information from anywhere else.
How long we keep it
- Detailed reports (each sale, session and so on): 90 days, then deleted automatically.
- Daily totals (for example "312 people played on Tuesday"): kept indefinitely. They are counts only and do not identify anyone.
- Your game's summary (the latest progress above, first and last time seen): until you use Forget me. A game not seen for 12 months has its summary, reports and letters deleted automatically.
- Letters we sent you: kept for our books. If you use Forget me, the amounts stay in our records but everything connecting them to you is removed.
- Backups: we keep a nightly copy of the database for 14 days, so anything deleted is gone from the backups within 14 days too.
Forget me
Settings → Forget me tells our server to delete everything it holds about your install ID: your summary, every report, and your letters. The game then makes a new install ID and starts fresh reporting under it. Your save on the device is not touched.
If you can no longer open the game, write to [email protected] with your claim number and we will delete it by hand.
Who we share it with
No one. We do not sell, rent or trade your information. Our server runs on a computer we own and manage ourselves in the United States, not on a third-party analytics service. The only people who can see the records are the people who make Dust & Deuces, through a private admin page that is not on the public internet.
Ads
Dust & Deuces shows no ads today. If we ever add optional ads (for example "watch an ad for a reward"), we will update this policy first, name the ad companies involved and link their policies, and nothing will play an ad unless you tap to watch one.
The website and the web version
dustanddeuces.com and the game played on it are served from our own server through Cloudflare, which carries the traffic and protects the site. Like any network provider, Cloudflare sees your IP address and basic request details to deliver the pages; see Cloudflare's privacy policy (https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/). The site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. The game stores its save in your browser's own storage, on your device.
If you play Dust & Deuces on itch.io instead, itch.io's own privacy policy also covers your visit to their site. Either way the game sends our server the same reports listed above and nothing more.
Who the game is for
Dust & Deuces is made for adults. It includes simulated gambling with game money (poker and slot machines at the saloon) and drinking in a saloon setting. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13; the game collects no names, contact details or device identifiers at all. If you are a parent and want a child's game records deleted, use Forget me in the game, or write to us with the claim number.
Keeping it safe
Reports travel over an encrypted connection. The admin page is reachable only from our own private network, not the public internet. The server accepts only the reports listed above, limits how much any one device can send, and keeps no IP addresses.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK or California), you may have the right to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to how we use it. Because we never know who you are, we can only find your records by your claim number: write to [email protected] with it. Forget me in the game does the deletion straight away. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and say so in the game if the change matters.
